To qualify for Social Security disability benefits, you must be "disabled" according to the Social Security Administration (SSA).  SSA defines "disabled" as having an impairment or a combination of impairments, either medical, psychological, or psychiatric, severe enough to prevent you from working at least 12 consecutive months, or severe enough that it is expected to result in death.

If you are disabled according to the SSA definition, then there are two types of benefits you may be eligible to receive from the SSA.  First, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI),  or Title II, benefits is the most common type, which is based upon your work history.  Second, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), or Title XVI benefits is based on financial need. Some people may qualify for both programs. However, a finding of "disabled" is required to qualify for either type of benefit.

Contact the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213, and ask for an application to apply for either or both of these benefits. You may choose to visit any Social Security office, or contact the Social Security Administration on the internet, at www.SSA.gov. After you have applied for and been denied benefits, please contact Meredith Morrow Illa, LLC for assistance in filing your appeal or reconsideration.  We will guide you through all the necessary steps.

If you have not applied for benefits yet, we also provide assistance in the application process. Contact Meredith Morrow Illa, LLC for your free initial consultation. Please complete the following form and bring it with you when you meet the attorney.
